My name is Melissa Grey, and I am writing on behalf of my father, Warren Douglas Minton. He served with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam, and we believe he served there during 1968–1969. He was a tank gunner and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in combat.
My father is now in the final stage of cancer, and we have been told that he likely has very little time remaining. His 83rd birthday is August 15th. I know this is an unusual request, but if any of your members served with him, remembers him, or if any fellow Blackhorse veterans would be willing to send him a birthday card or a brief note, it would mean so much to him. He has arranged to be buried in the military cemetery near Phoenix, though he is from Kentucky.
